During our 4 hour cheering practices on Saturday's. Yeah, I said it 4 HOURS on a SATURDAY! True story. We would have a 15 minute break half way through practice where all the girls could eat and relax. Tiffanie, Sarra, Sami and I were the only returning members from last year on the team. We would all sit in the middle of the cheering mats to eat and chat about things. The Freshman and one Sophomore would sit on the stage away from us. It was weird. The whole team had always sat on the mats to eat during Saturday practices. It was like a cheering tradition. We tried to get the girls to come over and sit with us, it didn't really work at first, but after a while they grew more comfortable with us. So we all sat on the mats together gossiping and laughing. That was a big step in us becoming not just a better team, but better friends.
Although what really made my senior year of cheering the best was my family! My little cheer family. They are actually my family too, but we've all become closer because of our love for the sport. I'm so thankful for my "Fab Four" Sarra, Sami, and Tiffanie. It's so sad that I'll never get to stand next to Tiffanie on the sidelines again. It was probably what I'll miss the most because she made me laugh so hard most nights that I cried. I would be laughing and then look over to get a disapproving look from our coach and try to pull it together only for Tiff to say something else and send me back into a fit of laughter. Those were the most amazing parts of my senior cheering.
Now the heartbreaking part. 1.7 points. That's all it took to make it so I would never get to preform on those ugly blue mats again. I wish I could have been out there to help my team, because I know we were good enough to go to States and do very well. For that I am so sorry. Seeing my fellow senior step off that mat and just start balling..... my heart shattered. But I know that Taylor (our beautiful angel) had other plans for us. We came in 7th. Her favorite number and that was her sign to us that she was there with us too. Thank you Taylor.
Your team was so close, that's amazing!
